iPad 2 launch on 2 March

Stand by your beds! Apple has issued invitations to the launch of the new Apple iPad. The announcement takes place next Wednesday, 2 March -- and you're invited.
CNET UK is invited, anyway, and that's the next best thing. Although the main announcement will take place in San Francisco as usual, we'll be reporting from Apple's launch event in London with all the news, as well as our hands-on first impressions of the iPad 2.
The fact that there's a UK launch is encouraging for us Britons who dont like to wait for our shiny new gadgets. In our experience, a UK press preview with lots of devices to play with often means a very short wait for the new product to hit shops -- sometimes a mere matter of days.
Could the new iPad be in stores by the end of next week? That would be a serious coup for Apple, and a massive step in securing its position at the top of the tablet tree, as it would mean the iPad 2 is available before the Motorola Xoom and other rival Android Honeycomb tablets.
The invitation doesn't give much away, coquettishly revealing a teasing glimpse of the corner of an iPad. The picture suggests that the battery indicator, lock switch, power button and volume controls are all still in the same place. So it could all be a massive wind-up and Apple's just announcing some dull new productivity software.
But hopefully we'll finally see how much of the rumour and speculation will be proved correct: will the next generation of Apple tablet have an improved screen? Will it pack a decent camera? What will it be called? No matter what the answers to these questions, at least it'll put an end to the fevered imaginings, salacious gossip and bare-faced poppycock surrounding the sequelicious slate.
Until the iPad 3 rumour mill kicks in, of course...
The iPad launch event kicks off at 6pm on Wednesday 2 March. Keep it CNET UK for all the news and our first impressions of the new device, and in the meantime.

iPad 3 is coming this fall !?!?

The following may sound a little crazy considering that the iPad 2 has not even been acknowledged or introduced by Apple yet. But from what we’re hearing, the next iteration of the iPad — let’s call it “iPad 3″ to keep it simple — may be coming along sooner than people realize.
Earlier today, HP held a big event in San Francisco to unveil their latest products based around the webOS software that they acquired when they bought Palm last year. One of these devices is a tablet, called TouchPad. The device looks like an iPad, but it has better specs. As such, some are already wondering if it’s a possible “iPad-killer”. Of course, the main problem is that the planned availability of the TouchPad isn’t until this summer. (And worse, there’s absolutely no word on pricing.). Then Daring Fireball’s John Gruber decided to quickly weigh in.

iPad 2 will be previewed next week?

Old iPadRumors are eddying that Apple will have an iOS 4.3 event sometime next week, where the company might just tack on an iPad 2 debut for good measure. The new iPad and iPhone operating system has been out in a beta version for some time, but Apple hasnt announced a release date. With recent surmisal of an iOS 4.3 release on February 13, it would make sense for Apple to host some sort of event during the coming week.

German blog Macnotes reports that the iPad 2 will be a part of such an event, and while the iPad 2 would n't be the immediate focus, any peek at the well-guarded second edition of the world's most commonly seen tablet would certainly turn all eyes toward Apple.

Good rumors come in bunches, and along with the potentiality for the iPad 2 preview, Macnotes has also provided tentative release dates for the tablet, as well as some initial specs.

It's reported that the iPad 2 could be released sometime between April 2 and April 9. The tablet could also feature the all-new Apple A5.

Real iPad 2 Seen For the First Time During The Daily Launch

Reuters has an incredible scoop concerning yet another leak in Apple’s back yard. Yes, it’s the iPad 2 this time, the new generation of slates, that’s been spotted yesterday during the launch event for The Daily. This is the first real iPad 2 sighting, folks.
There’s an eyewitness who spotted a working version of the device and said that it comes with a front camera, but that source couldn’t say if the slate uses a card slot or not. Apple and News Corp refused to comment on this happening, although there are voices saying that we’ll witness the unveiling of the iPad 2 sooner than we had thought, on February 9th.
The iPad has been a great success in 2010, reaching 14.8 million units sold last year. We expect the iPad 2 to beat those figures. It’s strange to think that HP will unveil its new webOS tablet on the same date, 9th February and these are two US companies competing. so it’ll get rough.

Upcoming android 3.0 honeycomb tablet list

It’s no secret that many insiders have forecast that 2011 will be the year of the tablet. Where their opinions may differ, however, is in predicting which tablet will outperform the others in what is shaping up to be a highly competitive market. A panoply of manufacturers are set to release Android 3.0 Honeycomb devices this spring, and while many of these tablets boast similar specs, the difference often lies in the details. The following list will help users parse through the data and determine which tablet is right for them.
