B&O BeoSound 8 Review
Probably the biggest surprise about Bang & Olufsen’s typically design-led entry into the world of iPod docks is that it’s taken so long.
For all the success of B&W’s all-conquering Zeppelin and its self consciously decorative ilk, there’s been an obvious gap in the market for a properly premium, properly effective iPod dock. Well, that gap has now been filled.
Striking design and build
Most B&O products tend to be obviously and immediately desirable on an aesthetic level. The BeoSound 8 is a little more divisive – is the circumference of the speaker enclosures a little too large, or is it that they’ve been placed a bit too close together?
In any event, the BeoSound 8 will dock most of Apple’s current range of iPhones, iPads and iPods, and has additional connectivity via a mini-USB socket and stereo RCA inputs.
The circular remote control feels good in the hand, although it can’t navigate your player’s menus.
There’s also a three-position switch to help compensate for your Beosound’s room position. With one important qualification, it’s a punchy, balanced and large-scale listen. Daft Punk’s Da Funk, for instance, is delivered with gusto, the kick-drum hitting hard and the rhythm handled with straight-edged assurance.
Turn it up if you want to get down
Timing is acceptable, integration throughout the frequency range is smooth, and there’s good dynamic headroom on tap, too.
That qualification, though, is volume. If the BeoSound 8 is to be heard at its best, it demands volume input of the ‘substantial-going-on-party-level’ variety – it could certainly be heard echoing around our testing rooms while it was running in.
At more modest levels, bass response is altogether softer, and balance and integration suffer as a result.
But if you like the looks, can stomach the price and have a large room to fill with sound, the BeoSound 8 is now the best of a not exactly numerous bunch.

LG Optimus Pad Review.
What is the right size for a tablet? 9.7-inches? What about 7-inches, or maybe 8.9-inches? If you’re struggling to answer that question, don’t worry, tablet makers are too, and so we have the latest challenger to Honeycomb tablet market: the LG Optimus Pad. It sports an 8.9-inch widescreen display that means it’s the same width as an iPad 2 when in landscape, but considerably thinner in height.
Design
Open the box and the LG Optimus Pad stares out at you ready to be fondled. The Optimus Pad measures 243 x 149 x 12.5mm and weighs 630g. The front is not only dominated by the glass touchscreen display, but it’s actually the only thing present. There are no buttons on the frame, physical or soft, and it’s strange that it’s so wide. We understand the argument for having to have something to hold on to when you use the “Pad”, but it appears overly large, especially as it doesn’t have a purpose in the same way the frame does on the BlackBerry PlayBook for example.Monday, March 28, 2011

After iPad 2 was released, now it has its strongest competitor ever, Motorola Xoom tablet with the newest Android version, which is 3.0 Honeycomb. This new Operating System is reported to be much cleaner and faster from the previous generation, Android Froyo.
One thing that obviously make everyone think many times before getting this Motorola Xoom is its price, which costs $599.00, but still more affordable than the newest iPad.

iPad 2 Smart Cover Review
Buy Apple® iPad 2™ Smart Cover - Blue (MC942LL/A) at Amazon now
The original iPad really worked best when in a case, but as Steve Jobs lamented in launching the iPad 2, most iPads have had their beautiful design—toiled over by Apple’s finest aesthetes!—cloaked by cases made of fabric or leather. And cases don’t just hide that pretty iPad—they also add thickness and weight. Clearly Apple couldn’t stand for this situation, because with the iPad 2, the company has not just introduced a new case, the iPad Smart Cover (Apple Web page); support for the case is baked right into the iPad 2’s hardware and software.
The new case—actually just a front-only cover—is a rectangle the exact size and shape of the iPad’s screen, divided lengthwise into four segments. The side that faces inward is covered with soft microfiber cloth; the outside is either leather ($69) or polyurethane ($39), each available in one of five colors.

iPad 2 vs. Motorola Xoom vs. HP TouchPad vs. BlackBerry PlayBook : Spec Comparision
You might recall we ran this comparison about a month back when HP's TouchPad was announced, but now we're back with a full set of 2011 devices as Apple's brand new iPad 2 has joined the fray. There's no need for excessive introductions, really, just leap past the break to get swalloped up by an avalanche of next-generation tablet specs.

iPad 2 Review
It’s official: the new device is called the iPad 2. The design hasn’t just been tweaked, Jobs says. It’s all new from the bottom up.
Firstly, there are a couple of new processors. The main CPU is a Samsung A5 dual core processor. That will be up to nine times faster than the original iPad. Secondly, there’s a new graphics processor that’s two times faster than that of the iPad 1.

iPad 2 launch on 2 March
Stand by your beds! Apple has issued invitations to the launch of the new Apple iPad. The announcement takes place next Wednesday, 2 March -- and you're invited.
CNET UK is invited, anyway, and that's the next best thing. Although the main announcement will take place in San Francisco as usual, we'll be reporting from Apple's launch event in London with all the news, as well as our hands-on first impressions of the iPad 2.
The fact that there's a UK launch is encouraging for us Britons who dont like to wait for our shiny new gadgets. In our experience, a UK press preview with lots of devices to play with often means a very short wait for the new product to hit shops -- sometimes a mere matter of days.
Could the new iPad be in stores by the end of next week? That would be a serious coup for Apple, and a massive step in securing its position at the top of the tablet tree, as it would mean the iPad 2 is available before the Motorola Xoom and other rival Android Honeycomb tablets.
The invitation doesn't give much away, coquettishly revealing a teasing glimpse of the corner of an iPad. The picture suggests that the battery indicator, lock switch, power button and volume controls are all still in the same place. So it could all be a massive wind-up and Apple's just announcing some dull new productivity software.
But hopefully we'll finally see how much of the rumour and speculation will be proved correct: will the next generation of Apple tablet have an improved screen? Will it pack a decent camera? What will it be called? No matter what the answers to these questions, at least it'll put an end to the fevered imaginings, salacious gossip and bare-faced poppycock surrounding the sequelicious slate.
Until the iPad 3 rumour mill kicks in, of course...
The iPad launch event kicks off at 6pm on Wednesday 2 March. Keep it CNET UK for all the news and our first impressions of the new device, and in the meantime.

Toshiba HoneycombTablet Review
With Motorola's upcoming Android Honeycomb-based tablet stealing the spotlight—those "tablet evolution" ads dissing the iPad and the Galaxy Tab are attention grabbers—Toshiba has pulled off a bit of a coup. The refreshingly simply-named Toshiba Tablet is officially the first Honeycomb tablet announced during the Consumer Electronics Show season.
It's true, Motorola's tablet has been hyped for weeks now, but we have yet to officially see it, only hear about it. PCMag had some hands-on time with Toshiba's tablet (see the slideshow below), but there was one major drawback: it wasn't powered up. And there is some question remaining about whether the Toshiba Tablet will be shown off at CES loaded with Android Honeycomb (the Google OS version designed for tablets) or whether the Toshiba will instead demo it with Android 2.3.

iPad 3 is coming this fall !?!?
The following may sound a little crazy considering that the iPad 2 has not even been acknowledged or introduced by Apple yet. But from what we’re hearing, the next iteration of the iPad — let’s call it “iPad 3″ to keep it simple — may be coming along sooner than people realize.
Earlier today, HP held a big event in San Francisco to unveil their latest products based around the webOS software that they acquired when they bought Palm last year. One of these devices is a tablet, called TouchPad. The device looks like an iPad, but it has better specs. As such, some are already wondering if it’s a possible “iPad-killer”. Of course, the main problem is that the planned availability of the TouchPad isn’t until this summer. (And worse, there’s absolutely no word on pricing.). Then Daring Fireball’s John Gruber decided to quickly weigh in.
Acer Iconia Tab A500 Review
This year, If you are a smartphone company and you still haven’t released any type of tablets – you may want to retire already. I’m serious! I mean, at the CES event today, most of the giant smartphone companies had each revealed their own tablets and some just looked like an ‘ipad-killer’ at first glance. And up we go, with Acer’s latest tablet – Acer Iconia Tab A500. As some of you may already know, this tablet has been leaked two months ago featuring some impressive specifications with some special brag-lines like it would be using 4G and Android 3.0 – today, it appears Acer isn’t joking at all.

iPad 2 will be previewed next week?
Rumors are eddying that Apple will have an iOS 4.3 event sometime next week, where the company might just tack on an iPad 2 debut for good measure. The new iPad and iPhone operating system has been out in a beta version for some time, but Apple hasnt announced a release date. With recent surmisal of an iOS 4.3 release on February 13, it would make sense for Apple to host some sort of event during the coming week.
German blog Macnotes reports that the iPad 2 will be a part of such an event, and while the iPad 2 would n't be the immediate focus, any peek at the well-guarded second edition of the world's most commonly seen tablet would certainly turn all eyes toward Apple.
Good rumors come in bunches, and along with the potentiality for the iPad 2 preview, Macnotes has also provided tentative release dates for the tablet, as well as some initial specs.
It's reported that the iPad 2 could be released sometime between April 2 and April 9. The tablet could also feature the all-new Apple A5.

Real iPad 2 Seen For the First Time During The Daily Launch
Reuters has an incredible scoop concerning yet another leak in Apple’s back yard. Yes, it’s the iPad 2 this time, the new generation of slates, that’s been spotted yesterday during the launch event for The Daily. This is the first real iPad 2 sighting, folks.
There’s an eyewitness who spotted a working version of the device and said that it comes with a front camera, but that source couldn’t say if the slate uses a card slot or not. Apple and News Corp refused to comment on this happening, although there are voices saying that we’ll witness the unveiling of the iPad 2 sooner than we had thought, on February 9th.
The iPad has been a great success in 2010, reaching 14.8 million units sold last year. We expect the iPad 2 to beat those figures. It’s strange to think that HP will unveil its new webOS tablet on the same date, 9th February and these are two US companies competing. so it’ll get rough.

Upcoming android 3.0 honeycomb tablet list
It’s no secret that many insiders have forecast that 2011 will be the year of the tablet. Where their opinions may differ, however, is in predicting which tablet will outperform the others in what is shaping up to be a highly competitive market. A panoply of manufacturers are set to release Android 3.0 Honeycomb devices this spring, and while many of these tablets boast similar specs, the difference often lies in the details. The following list will help users parse through the data and determine which tablet is right for them.

Review ViewSonic G Tablet
The good: The ViewSonic G Tablet is one of only a handful of Android-based devices offering a 10-inch screen at an iPad-besting price tag. The bad: Adapting the smartphone OS to such a large screen requires many custom interface tweaks that fall short. Lack of official Google mobile services and Android Market limits potential. Many third-party apps don't work as expected. The bottom line: The ViewSonic G Tablet carves out a unique niche among Android tablets, breaking away from the smartphone to become a type of domestic dashboard. Unfortunately, many key benefits of the Android OS are lost along the way. |

ViewSonic ViewPad 7 review
The good: The ViewSonic ViewPad 7 delivers Android 2.2 on a 7-inch screen, with a powerful processor and rear- and front- facing cameras. The bad: The ViewPad 7 is a doppelganger for the Samsung Galaxy Tab and shares many of its shortcomings, including a frustrating keyboard and awkward size. Lacks camera flash. Bring your own memory card. The bottom line: The ViewPad 7 offers a solid platform for Android 2.2, but it comes off as an oversize, overpriced smartphone--not a Netbook alternative. Review: |

Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 Review
The year 2010 saw the world’s introduction to mainstream tablet devices. They’ve been around before, but were executed poorly and nobody wanted them (remember the Apple Newton?). But now it’s becoming a part of everyday living, and everyone who buys one seem to get addicted. That means this obsession with tablets that started with the iPad isn’t going to stop anytime soon. It’s going to keep growing.
One such example of bigger and better devices in the form of tablets is the Samsung Galaxy Tab, a 7-inch tablet device. Sure, it’s not a phone (at least, not without rooting it anyway), but it’s the epitome of what phones have become over the last two to three years since iOS and Android came out: a large-screened device that does a great job of retrieving information off the internet, entertaining us with multimedia and games, and helps us communicate with others around the world even more efficiently than we could have ever dreamed. The only thing that’s missing is the phone. |

Hands on: Dell Streak 7 review
Not only did Dell unveil the Dell Streak 7 at its CES press conference, but it also offered a sneak peek of a new 10.1-inch model to go alongside the 7 and existing 5-inch Streak tablets. The Streak 7 is rather similar to the Dell Streak 5 (as it would seem to have been rebranded) but it differs in one crucial way – it has a dual-core version of the Nvidia Tegra processor. The Streak 7 is also a 4G tablet. Since we don’t have 4G networks in the UK as yet, you might think that it won’t appear in the UK, but the tablet will be available elsewhere too. |

Motorola Xoom review
BUY AT AMAZON with FREE Two-Day Shipping Includes AmazonWireless Instant Discount |
With a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor beating with two 1GHz chips, it’s a powerful little grunt-nugget, and the 1280×800 resolution display is a great size at 10.1-inches, making it very much an iPad rival, especially when you consider the similar black bezel is a little thinner.
